Course Map

Starting the Run & Walk on the track at Foote Field, athletes follow the bus ramp down onto Fox Drive. Taking a right turn into Whitemud Park, 10 km athletes will turn Left onto the pathway heading over the footbridge to Fort Edmonton. Taking another left turn, athletes will follow the pathway under Fox Drive. Turning Right, athletes will follow the pathway up into the Brookside community. Following 141st Street South to 53rd Avenue athletes take a quick right/left to get onto 142nd Street. Following 142nd Street South, athletes will take a left turn onto the pathway down to Rainbow Valley. A nice long climb back out of the valley gets athletes onto 122nd Street which they follow north to 63rd Avenue. Crossing to the east side of the road, athletes run down Belgravia Road to take a Right turn on 116th Street which gets them to the Finish Line and back onto the Foote Field track.

5 km Athletes turn right in Whitemud Park and follow the Keillor Road pathway up to Saskatchewan Drive. There is a good hill climb & switch back on the way up! Following Saskatchewan Drive to the East, athletes cross over Belgravia Road on the footbridge. Now on 116th Street, athletes finish off on Foote Field track.

Parking

  • Participants must arrive at one of these parking locations by 8:30am!
  • Parking is limited at Foote Field

Athletes may park in any open lot on the U of A South Campus.
Any locations not available will be clearly marked.  Parking exists immediately adjacent to the stadium, in lots surrounding the Neil Crawford Centre and around the Saville Centre.  Follow the directions of our parking volunteers when you arrive.

Transportation

Direct access to Foote Field is available by bus and LRT

  • Take the LRT to the South Campus stop
  • City buses also stop at the South Campus

This year, the funds from the Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run & Walk will purchase equipment that is an essential part of the evaluation and delivery of care; from EEG, ECG, ultrasound machines, which help in the monitoring of key vital signs, to customized neonatal beds and lights to help in development and overall health of the smallest patients.
